MARILYN MANSON To Top Next Week's Billboard Album Chart
May 18, 2003MARILYN MANSON appears on course for the second No. 1 album of his career with an estimated first-week tally for his "Golden Age of Grotesque" set (Nothing/Interscope) of at least 150,000 units, according to Billboard.com.
Manson had previously reached No. 1 with the 1998 release "Mechanical Animals", which began with 223,000 units, his biggest Nielsen SoundScan week.
His November 2000 set, "Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)", peaked at No. 13 with a first-week tally of 117,000.
In other chart-related news, COLD's "Year of the Spider" is expected to start with 120,000 or more. This number would put the Flip/Geffen/Interscope set in the top 10 and would mark the biggest sales week and highest Billboard 200 rank for the band. COLD's first album peaked at No. 97 in 2001.
